How to show hobbies on a BBA fresher resume?

One thing that people often get wrong about including hobbies in resumes, especially for fresh graduates, is that they assume any hobby is worth mentioning. While it's important to include hobbies that demonstrate relevant skills and interests to potential employers, it's equally important to be selective and strategic about which hobbies to include.

For example, hobbies that are too personal, controversial, or irrelevant to one's career goals may actually hurt the chances of getting hired, as they can distract or confuse potential employers. Additionally, listing too many hobbies or being too vague about what they entail can also dilute the impact of the resume and make it less focused.

Instead, it's recommended to choose hobbies that align with one's career goals and highlight specific skills or interests that are valued in the target industry or role. It's also important to provide some context or detail about what the hobby entails, such as specific projects or achievements, to show how it demonstrates relevant qualities.

The key is to be thoughtful and intentional about including hobbies in a resume, and to ensure that they add value and contribute to a coherent and compelling narrative about one's strengths and potential as a candidate.

Wondering what hobbies to show on your resume?

2. Volunteer work

Volunteering can show that a BBA graduate is dedicated to giving back to their community and has experience working with diverse groups of people. This can be beneficial for employers in industries such as nonprofit, social services, or education, where community engagement and social responsibility are highly valued.

3. Sports or fiteness activities

Sports or fitness activities can show that a BBA graduate is goal-oriented, disciplined, and has strong teamwork skills. This can be beneficial for employers in industries such as sports management, hospitality, or healthcare, where fitness and teamwork are highly valued.

4. Traveling

Traveling can show that a BBA graduate has a global perspective, is open to new experiences and cultures, and has excellent planning and organizational skills. By following these tips, fresh BBA graduates can effectively showcase their hobbies on their resume and demonstrate their unique skills, interests, and personality to potential employers.

Is watching youtube or instagram a hobby on your resume?

Watching YouTube or Instagram is not typically considered a hobby worthy of inclusion on a resume because it is not an active or productive activity that demonstrates a particular skill or interest to a potential employer. In my long years of employement I am yet to see an employer who is willing to pay a decent amount of money to someone for just spending time on youtube and isntagram. While watching videos or browsing social media can be enjoyable, it does not provide any tangible benefits that can be highlighted to potential employers.

In contrast, hobbies such as blogging, volunteer work, sports, traveling, or technology demonstrate skills and interests that are relevant to many industries and can showcase a candidate's personal strengths and characteristics. These hobbies can demonstrate qualities such as creativity, communication skills, teamwork, leadership, and problem-solving, which can be valuable to potential employers.

While leisure activities like watching YouTube or Instagram may have some benefits, they are generally not considered relevant or significant enough to include on a resume. It's usually best to focus on hobbies and activities that are more directly related to one's career goals or demonstrate transferable skills that can be valuable in the workplace.

Why BBA Fresh graduates dont get interview calls

There could be several reasons why BBA graduates may not be getting interview calls for their first jobs, but here are three common ones:

1. Lack of Relevant Experience

I am not referring to formal work experience with an employer, but just any experienc. As I explained in this post, even your student project can be used to show you possess relevant work experience. Many employers may be looking for candidates who have some relevant experience or internships in the field. If a BBA graduate has not had any work experience or relevant internships, it may be difficult to compete with other candidates who do have that experience.

2. Poorly Written Resume

Resumes are often the first point of contact between a job seeker and a potential employer. If a BBA graduate's resume is poorly written, not targeted to the specific job they're applying for, or lacks relevant keywords or accomplishments, it may not catch the attention of hiring managers or applicant tracking systems (ATS). Our resumes are all ATS friendly resumes.

3. Inadequate Networkiing

Networking can be a crucial factor in landing a job, especially for entry-level positions. BBA graduates who do not have a strong professional network or have not been actively reaching out to alumni, recruiters, or industry professionals may be missing out on valuable opportunities to learn about job openings and get referrals or recommendations.

You can do it

There are hundreds of jobs, if not thousands of jobs that hiring managers and recruiters across companies trying to fill every single day. Quite honestly, there are more jobs for BBA graduates than there are qualified candidates. If you are frustrated about not finding a job, don't be.
